VMware vSphere Host Update Utility to update ESX 3.5 to latest build of ESX 4.0

I want to upgrade an ESX 3.5 host to 4.0,  so I downloaded the latest VI Client (VMware-viclient-all-4.0.0-792836) and the latest ESx 4.0 build iso (ESX-4.0.0-update04-504850).

When, I run the utility, and select the ISO, it get the Unsupprted ESX Version: esx-4.0.0-4.4-504850-release message. VMware KB says to make sure that the latest VI Cleint HU is installed.

Is there a way around this?

EDIT: I also wanted to add, that if I used older build ISOs (ESX-4.0.0-update01-208167, ESX-4.0.0-update02-261974, ESX-4.0.0-update03-398348) it works.

I used the lastest vCenter build (U4a),  and used Update Manager, and it worked.
