Dear All,
I installed vCenter 5, but I am unable to find the convertor plugin, also it is not in the vCenter installation folder.
how can I add it to the plugins, so I can import and convert machines ?
thanks
regards
Yousif
Hi,
You need to install the vCenter Converter on the vCenter Server first. After that the plugin will show up in your vSphere Client.

Is it listed in your vSphere Client under Plug-Ins -> manage Plug-Ins?
Is should be shown there with the possibility to click install.

The Converter shortcut on your Desktop looks like you installed the Standalone Converter. Might that be the case?
You could check what it says in the Windows control panel -> Programs and features.
If yes:
The converter Application you need to install on the vCenter Server can be found on the vCenter DVD iso.

I downloaded vCenter from vmware website, and I did not find the convertor ,
can I downloaded seperately ? from where ?
thanks
uargh, just saw they didn't include the vCenter converter in vSphere 5.
take a look at what Brian posted:
So no more converter integration in vCenter, sorry for not seeing that earlier

Hi,
So I have to convert manually then add it to vCenter

I have always advocated installing the stand-alone version of VMware Converter because it always seemed to have more features that what came with vCenter.
You CAN indeed do a P2V directly in to vCenter with the stand alone version. Just start the program and start a conversion, then follow the wizard. It will ask you what type of conversion then ask you for vCenter credentials.
