How to move files (i.e. templates or VMs) to another Datastore inside VIC?

How can I move existing VMs or templates inside VIC from one datatstore to another?

Cloning might be a solution, but for it is a copy then I have to use another name for the cloned file and to delete the original file afterwards, and I don't want to do this.

Any hints for me?

Regards, Dietmar

As a workaround you can do "Convert to virtual machine", migrate the VM, convert back to template.

Shut down the VM

Choose migrate and select the same (or another host in the cluster) as the destination

You are asked if the VM should stay at its place or moved to another storage.

Very quick answer Smiley Happy

For VMs you are right (I forgot that this problem was solved from VC1.3 to VC2.0).

But what about the templates? There is no Migrate-Button?

... the workaround works of course. But as you say: It is a workaround ...

Then I hope that VMware will soon offer a new version, where I also can migrate templates.

Thanks for your assistance.

@ VMware: this is a feature request.
