How to manage access rights to specific data stores?

How can I give rw rights for my VM-admins to specific data stores?

Background-info: the VM-admins are no admins of the VM-properties, they are only admins of the guest system.

But of course they need the ability of making clones / images of their VMs. This is why I added a new data store on a NFS where they can put their images. But they must not have any rights to create clones / images / templates / VMs on the SAN data stores ...

Hello,

I don't think that is possible. You can control this on a server by server basis but I don't think you have the option to be that granular with datastores.

Maybe you could setup one ESX server with NFS only and enable folks to clone there virtual machines to it?

Why are folks cloning their own virtual machines? maybe you can do what they need a different way? what about snapshots?
