Consolidated Backup running on NetBackup Management Server

Is this possible and then more important, is it the correct solution?

We are trying to not have to buy another server for the single purpose of being a backup proxy. The current Veritas NetBackup server has a unused HBA that could be setup to see the VMFS luns.

I'm trying to get an answer from sales, but I'm always leery of pre-sales support.

Thanks.

Yes, this is not only possible, but also supported as long as your backup server is Win and not Linux.

There is a bit to setting it up, but the documentation that comes in the media kit is quite good.

Very important to ensure your backup server does not assign drive letters when accessing the VMFS LUNS.

Also you will ned a mount point that is at least as big as your largest VM.
