Migration of guests

Hi,

I have two ESX servers and I need to migrate the guests from a box that is due to be decommissioned to a brand new ESX 4 build. Due to security restrictions there is no vMotion and I can only work with SCP. The issue I currently have is that the site has no available IP addresses (they're supplied by a third party and my company won't pay for any additional IP addresses). I know that I can change the IP's to an off-network range and use a direct connection to move the guests but I was wondering if anyone had a better way of doing this migration work without having to physically access the ESX servers?

Thanks in advance.

maybe use something like VMware Converter?  You can IP at the destination source, once you get you new IP addresses.

...or you can power down the guests and Export to OVF Template..  You can store your guests on a USB drive or something similar.

Hi Troy,

Thanks for the input. I'm looking for a solution that can be implemented using scp rather than creating templates (we're running short of space on the old ESX servers). I think I may have found a way to do the work using the server iLO.

SCP and work also with NAT or PAT.

But it's very slow due to the encryption layer.
