Hello everybody!
I've got a question about licensing terms of vSphere 5 & Nexus 1000v.
I've got Enterprise Plus license. Does it include nexus 1000v license or should I purchase Nexus separately?
I've read this http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus1000/sw/4_0/license/configuration/guide/lic... ,
but there were no info about vSphere 5 co-licensing.
At the time of vSphere4 the Nexus license should be purchased additionally to Enterprise Plus. What about vSphere 5?
Hi,
I belive it's still the same. I mean, vDS is one thing included in vSphere Ent+ and if you want Cisco Nexus1000v, you should buy those licenses as "add-ons".
I can't see any place in your link that make me think about those licenses being included in Ent+. Even in this link that compares editions from vSphere, I can't see anything about any Cisco switch functionality but only the traditional vDS.

Usually VMware have promotions, I suggest that you check with a partner if there's any promotion at the moment that includes those licenses.
Hope I helped you.

It looks to me as if, in 5.1 at least, that the 1000v is included for those with Enterprise Plus who upgrade to the vCloud Suite standard, although I am having a bit of difficulty finding clear guidance on this issue on the VMware site. There are numerous articles that imply that the 1000v is part of the vCloud standard suite such as:

Any news on whether this is true or not for 5.1?
Cheers

Hi,
The only place where I look for information regarding licensing is VMware pages and sometimes if it doesn't include anything about a specific product, it just means that it doesn't includes it in the suite. That would be my conclusion if watching these links:
http://www.vmware.com/products/datacenter-virtualization/vcloud-suite/compare.html
http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/products/vCloud/VMware-vCloud-Suite-Datasheet.pdf
http://www.vmware.com/products/datacenter-virtualization/vcloud-suite/features.html
Do you have any vmware.com vmware link that makes you think that Cisco Nexus 1000v is included?
The articles that you are sharing, speak about "future" possible integrations. One of those guesses spoke about something like "the next suite 5.1 will have this or that" so it was written before any new relase. It seems to me that it is just a wrong guess they made.
If you are looking to aquire this suite and still have doubts, I would highly recommend to speak with a partner to get some "official" support.

Maybe http://blogs.cisco.com/datacenter/new-nexus-1000v-free-mium-pricing-model helps understanding the new editions and pricing model.
