I've problem in my environment. FC Switch need long time to re-detect the WWN id at VMware host, every after shutdown/restart one of ESXi hosts. It can take 5-6 hours to re-detect again, which is abnormal I think. While, my other hosts is normal, mean re-detect immediately after shutdown/restart host.
Here is my environment condition:
Esxi Host - vSphere 6.5 (IBM X3550 M4) ==> FC Switch (IBM 2498 – B24) ==> Storage (IBM V7000)
HBA Card for host: Emulex 12000 dual port 8 GB
I need your suggestion guys, which part I should check to fix this issue?
Best Regards,
Azlan Syah
Assuming your SAN switch SFP is 8Gbps, try to fix the speed at the HBA for 8Gbps instead of Auto. I already experienced a similar problem in the past with IBM HS22 blades and the solution was set the speed to fixed instead of Auto.

Hi Mr. Richardson,
Thank you very much to respond my question.
Which side I should configure as your suggestion? at VMware host or SAN Switch side?

That configuration should be done at the HBA BIOS. The following IBM Retain Tip shows additional configurations for IBM BladeCenter but that should helps you too: https://support.podc.sl.edst.ibm.com/support/home/docdisplay?lndocid=MIGR-5087103
