failed event

Can someone explain what this event means.  I'm getting it from both of my vmware esxi4 embedded hosts:

CMD: /opt/vmware/aam/bin/ft_gethostbyname host1 |grep FAILED

Looks like you may have DNS issues. Make sure FQDN resolves on all hosts and vCenter. use vmkping to test.

I just tried it with host name and fqdn.  All worked.  I pinged the hosts and the vcenter.  Any other ideas?

I'm assuming you get this when trying to configure HA?  If so, you have a redundant NIC for your managment network?

HA has actually been turned on for quite some time now.  Currently, I just have two nics on each host dedicated to management.

either way it's HA related.  If name resolution is setup properly, maybe it's a simple as right click "reconfigure for HA" .  Plus prior to that, maybe restart the management agents.

I tried the "reconfigure ha".  We'll see what happens.  What exactly does that do?  Just reset all ha settings to what they're suppose to be?

reconfigure for HA is more of a reinstall of the HA agent on the ESX(i).  Hopefully that fixes it for you.
