Hello and welcome to the communities.

It depends on the setup and the requirements, but you certainly don't have to. What are you working with and/or trying to accomplish?

ive just been looking around and there is so many way to do this but there is no wrong and right way. Is there a best pratice or what determines good design ? what made me start thing of good design is that i have trunked all ports to the esx host and iscsi works without haviing the vmkernal port setup... why is that ?
