Welcome to the Community,
assuming your goal is to setup ESX for evaluation and testing purposes, I'd recommend you use e.g. VMware Workstation and setup a virtual ESX host in VMware Workstation. Instead of setting up ESX, consider to install ESXi, because ESX 4.1 is the last version of ESX. Only ESXi will be available in future versions.
About your question: ESX/ESXi does not support any Realtec NICs. see http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php?deviceCategory=io

Since this is a Whitebox, you can find a list of working NIC's at e.g. http://www.vm-help.com//esx40i/esx40_whitebox_HCL.php. The Intel PRO/1000 NICs are usually good candidates and affordable.

Hi Andre,
Thank you very much for your advise.
Intel PRO/1000 NIC have 2 or 3 product, All the Intel PRO/1000(MT/GT/CT/PT) are working for ESXi?
Please advise.

Alex
From other posts it looks like the Intel PRO/1000 GT is working well, if you have a free PCI slot. See Re: ESXi 4.1 install, Lenovo TS200v, vmfs3Module crash
