missing Nic port on installation

Hi Folks,

I've just installed esxi 4 on a DL385 g5p with a NC382T nic in PCI slot 5. When I view the Nic's in network management via the Direct console I can only see 5 of the 6 NIC ports, one of the ports on the NC382T nic is missing, but the other is there an working? Both ports are registered in the BIOS.

I've tried this on another server and the same issue exists??

Any ideas..

There was a similar problem some months ago.

Try to search in old post.

I think to remember that your have to enable in BIOS or to change the interrupts.

Thanks Andre,

I have been trying to search but I'm not finding anything. The bios was my first thought, but I can't see anything obvious.

cheers

Have you tried to change the PCI slot?

There is a link on the NIC?

I've not change the slot as yet so next thing to do. The reason I initially discounted this is that one port is active so assumed the slot must be ok - that said, I should know better than to assume anything! Smiley Happy

There is a link and data is passing over the active port. There is also a link of indicator on the "faulty"port

It was the slot, swap the HBA and the NIC and it all came up! Must be a slot speed or something. Oh well all sorted.

Thanks Andre for responding
