how does one get thier hands on the cold cloning .iso image? The docs say to download VMware vCenter Converter 4.1.x edition and extract the .iso, but can't find that version anywhere.
Prepare for Cold Cloning
Because VMware vCenter Converter Standalone 4.2 does not support cold cloning, you must use the Boot CD
of an earlier vCenter Converter edition. The features supported on the Boot CD depend on the product version
you choose.
VMware vCenter Converter 4.1.x edition is not a free software product.
Procedure
1 To obtain a Boot CD, go to the VMware Download Web site and download vCenter Converter 4.1.x
installation.
2 Extract the Boot CD .iso file from the installation package.
3 Write the Boot CD .iso file on a CD.
What to do next
Follow the onscreen instructions to proceed with cold cloning.
You need to be licensed for Enterprise ESX. If so, then your account will allow you to download the Cold Clone ISO

The download location is not immediately obvious even if you have the correct licensing, if you simply look for the Boot CD you wont find a link to it
You should choose vCenter Server 4 Update 2 or whatever version you require, you will then see the option to download the zip file containing the boot CD image.

For anyone who comes across this while looking for the download these days... the latest version that I was able to find is part of the VCenter 4.0 Update 4 pack. To get it, navigate through the downloads page as if you were downloading the VCenter installation files. At the bottom of the list is the option for the boot CD. I haven't been able to find a newer version.
