License downgrade 8.0 -> 6.0

Hi all,

is it still possible nowadays to downgrade a license key form 8.0 to 6.0 even though the 6.0 is no longer supported?

Thanks in advance

Tinto,

R610 has an incompatible cpu for ESXi7. End of discussion

where did you find this "incompatibility"?

if you have found it in the VMware Compatibility Matrix

it does not mean that ESXi7 won't install

To basically answer the question and not resorting to the discussion if you should.

Yes a paid license with SnS (so with support subscription) is able to downgrade from 8.0 > 7.0 > 6.x.

@Tinto1970:

The R610 contains X55xx and X56xx Xeon CPU's from the Westmere(-EP/EX) CPU architecture. Those have removed from support in 7.0; you might get it to work with "allowLegacyCPU=true" but that might be a step too far for the OP.

Hi michelkeus_stwg,

Thank you, very appreciated. This was also confirmed to me by a sales rep 👍
