Building HomeLab - nested virtualization on Intel Core i7-7820X (LGA2066)

Hi !

I'm going to build homelab (nested virtualization) on Intel Core i7-7820X (LGA2066) and motherboard with X299 chipset.

I'm going to put on it esxi 6.5 and there on it build environment to tests.

Does anyone of you use such hardware for esxi 6.5 ?

Will features like FT work on such hardware (in nested virtualization) ?

There should be no problem with the CPU, but depending on the rest of the hardware you may find ESXi will not work without custom drivers. In some cases, there may not be drivers at all, so it's best to check carefully on the rest of the components.

I would agree with daphnissov​ about the other hardware not having custom drivers as I had seemly issue with my 6.5 install. So had to go with 6.0, check and verify about the components and after that you go ahead.
