vMotion Licensing Change 4.0 to 4.1

Currently I have vCenter server 4.0U1 and a cluster of hosts running on ESX 4.0U1 std. I'm trying to figure out my best upgrade scenario to 4.1 and was wondering where exactly this license change for vMotion takes place, whether it's upon the vCenter upgrade, the host upgrades, or both.

Ideally I could upgrade vCenter to 4.1 and then vMotion VM's off and do the hosts one-by-one, but I wasn't sure at what point the licensing change takes place to enable vMotion. If anyone could offer some guidance on this I'd appreciate it!

Thanks!

Interesting question.

According to a German forum post (about Essentials Plus), vMotion will be available only after the host update.
