missing vCenter Servers Objects

Hi all, I'm new to the vCenter Server side of things. My goal is to get vCenter FT working between 2 servers running ESXi 6. I'm using trial versions of both 2008 R2 and vCenter Server.

I installed a fresh copy of Windows 2008 R2 update 1 onto a server.  I then installed vCenter Server onto the same server. From here I would need to create the Datacenter... But, I can't create a Datacenter without a vCenter Server.

Here I am trying to create a Datacenter -

Then I go to the vCenter Server section -

Nothing listed and no option to add a new one.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks for the help.

I believe there is not enough information in your post.

To Install vCenter on Windows 2008 R2 you need to install

Single Sign On

Web Client

Inventory Service

vCenter

You will also need a SQL database with proper 64 bit ODBC connector.

Your best bet may be to use the vCenter appliance to get your vCenter up & running quickly

Did you login using the administrator account that was created during the vCenter Server installation?

You need to have a vCenter to create datacenter.

Since you are using ESXi 6.0 hosts, you have to install vCenter server 6.0 to manage ESXi 6.0 hosts. Please refer the following installation guide to install vcenter 6.0

Thanks for the attention. To answer and clarify some of the questions...

This is the option I chose from my installer -

Here is the output of the installer and the build info -

Here is the option I chose -

Here is the option I chose for the DB -

I took the "embedded database" as an included DB.

Oh, and I'm logging in as the 'administrator' user for the Single Sign On.

After all this, I then connect to the Web Service via a browser and... you've seen my results.

Thanks again for looking.

I figured out my issue after reinstalling for the 10th time. Thanks for pointing me in that direction.
