Install VUM on seperates server or VC server?

We currently have 18 - ESX 3.5 U2 hosts in our enviornment. I am about to install VUM. Should I install VUM on seperates server or VC server? I plan to use VUM for ESX host only - I already have a SUS server. Are there any drawbacks to using SQL 2005 Esxpress as opposed to using SQL 2005? What does everyone recommend?

We run VUM on a VM and it is backended on a SQL 2005 cluster.
