How can I login VMware vCenter Server Appliance web console by Windows account?

Hi,

I can use Windows domain account to login vCSA command line console (open from vSphere client) and vSphere web client (https://<vCSA ip>:9443), but I cannot use the same Windows account to login to vCSA web console (https://<vCSA ip>:5480).

The response is "Unable to authenticate user. Please try again", no matter I use domain\username or username@domain. The account was added to adminstrator role in vSphere client already. Now, only the builtin root account cannot login vCSA web console.

Can I use Windows account to login vCSA web console? Thank you in advance.

Have you try to connect through:

https://localhost:9443/admin-app/

You need to register the vSphere Web Client before. Connect into that URL and go to "Register vCenter Server". Add the vCenter connection information and then Register.

After that you should be able to connect with Web Client.

https://<hostname or IP>:9443/vsphere-client/

Good luck.

I can access vSphere web client already without any problem. The web admin ui which I cannot access by Windows domain account is vCSA web console.

Thank you for your reply anyway.

Hi,

I am also having this and would like to get it resolved, both my vCSA and my ESXi servers are all registered on the domain and i can use domain credentials through the standard viclient, but not the web console.

Any help appreciated.
