Cancelling a task

From time to time I need to cancel a running task for a VM in Virtual Center and (for whatever reason) the "Cancel" is grayed out in Virtual Center's "Recent Tasks". I could 'cancel' the task by going to the host that particular VM is on and restart the management service but that would cancel all other running tasks on that host and I would temporarily lose the ability to manage my Vm's until the services started up again.

What's the best way to cancel a specific task when the 'cancel' option is grayed out in virtual center? Is there some command line magic I could work to make this happen? Thanks in advance!

I know exactly what you mean, it's annoyed me plenty of times the past not being able to cancel a task, but unfortunately AFAIK there is no command line tool to kill single task.

Thanks mittell. I'm still hoping someone out there has a solution for this though. If not I'll mark your post as the correct answer.

let it time out, or wait for other tasks to complete and then restart your vCenter Server Service. That should clear it out.
