Well, that was of course a really good question. I had already been out looking for it and was having a hard time finding it.
I still haven't actually found one directly from APC, however I have found a note that says there is a standard UPS MIB published by the IETF and that the APC supports that MIB.
Indeed, there is an RFC for it, it's RFC 1628 and can be found here. It contains the UPS MIB.
This is a better thing for HQ to support since it is a standard and will probably work with most UPS's.
I've just installed 2x APC SUA3000RMI2U's, and a APC Network Management Card 10/100 BASE-T (AP9617) into each. SNMP has been enabled, but I am having similar issues with connecting up the monitoring with Hyperic.
If you get it working, let me know what you did.. I have not been successful. I finally just set up the APC to notify me directly, which is not what I would prefer.
I just created a simple SNMP plugin to monitor an APC Smart-UPS. See the attached files. Right now it only monitors the Input Line Voltage. I hope to add some features in the future.
This should also work for a lot of other APC equipment as it is supported in the MIB.
pepijn - thanks for sharing! If you wouldn't mind, please add these plugins and related info to the HyperFORGE (http://www.hyperic.com/hyperforge) so folks can better search them & we will award you points! And who knows... maybe even next month's Plugin of the Month Award! http://www.hyperic.com/resources/plugin_of_the_month.html
would you have just one UPS platform or would each UPS unit be a platform by itself? I have over 100 UPS units to monitor..........would that be 1 UPS platform or over 100 UPS platforms?
