Hi Techies,
what is CIM in vmware. please provide more detailed information. how and where it is used in vmware.

VINAY
CIM (Common Information Model) is provided to monitor the system health. Several vendors offer additional CIM providers specific for their hardware. Take a look at e.g http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/techpaper/hwhm41_technote.pdf to see how this works.
You can find a list of vendors who offer such CIM providers at http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/vcl/cimprovider.php

It's actually in the document I mentioned. VMware provides a common interface to which HW providers can add hardware specific providers.
... what is its importance in ESX/hardware monitoring?
Basically, the purpose is to detect HW failures (or predictive failures) as early as possible to be able to take action and avoid serious outages.

Thanks a lot Andre
Hi Guys,
Please suggest how to configure CIM on an HP DL 380G6 server.

There's nothing you need to configure on the host istelf with installing the CIM providers (HP ESXi Offline Bundle) After installing it you will see some additional hardware in the host's (and vCenter Server) health status. However with no monitoring like HP SIM Server in place the CIM providers are not really useful.
