Note: it's not a physical datacenter it's a virtual Datacenter

NO, you cannot.

Yes, as far as the datastores are shared.

Yes, as far as they are running same CPU families.

Because that's the way VMware implemented the datacenter object in vSphere.

Maybe because the main idea was that the datacenter object would be used for geographical seperated datacenters. So vMotion wasn't really an option with todays ressources.
