Hello,
I am running a 4 servers cluster (Cisco C220 M4) with VMware vSphere 6.0 Build 3620759 and recently I had a purple screen. Can you help me knowing what would be the 'cause? I need to understand where I can start looking.
Gracias,
This is a known hardware issue that affects the supported versions of the ESXi host with the Intel Xeon processors E5 v4, E7 v4, and D-1500. This is not a VMware problem.
To resolve this issue, upgrade the system BIOS (firmware) to a version that has the following microcode patch revision level for its Intel Xeon processors:
CPU family | CPUID model (stepping) | Required microcode patch revision | Supported ESXi version |
Intel Xeon E5-2600-v4 Intel Xeon E5-4600-v4 | 0x406F1 (B0 stepping) | 0x0b00001a or higher | ESXi 5.5 U3b or higher ESXi 6.0 U1b or higher |
Intel Xeon E7-8800-v4 Intel Xeon E7-4800-v4 | 0x406F1 (B0 stepping) | 0x0b00001a or higher | ESXi 6.0 U1b or higher |
Intel Xeon D-1500 | 0x50663 (V2 stepping) | 0x0700000c or higher | ESXi 6.0 U1b or higher |
Intel Xeon D-1500 | 0x50664 (Y0 stepping) | 0x0f00000a or higher | ESXi 6.0 U1b or higher |
For more information, contact your hardware vendor.
Thanks for the answer. How do you know this is the issue? Something in the purple screen I attached?
I notice the error “SPUnlockIRQWork" and put same in kb.vmware.com read articles.
Thanks! Worked just fine!
