No network inside my vapp

Hi All,

I build my vCloud director 5.5 recently. Stucked on network part. We have dvs Configured with dvportgroup inside (Screenshot Attached.). They all works for internal network .

When i created an org vdc i assigned the dvportgroup from it. (Screenshot attached.)

Now issue is wheni am deploying any vApp its shows me no nic or ip acquired. inside vm the network cable unplugged Sign. I recreated org vdc and still the error is same.

I believe you should know where i am lacking .

Thanks.

ok.

you should really just delete the network pool. and for get about that.  you'll have to delete any network you might have created at the org level, and then delete the network pool afterwards.

- create an external network use the port group you have created

- create an org network as a "direct connect" to the external network

- add the org network to the vapp

- set the VM to use the Org network

If the physical network is providing DHCP, then this is more like an external network, than an isolated network (what a net pool is for).

the IP assignment comes from how it was assigned in the NIC Card

if you have it as DHCP, then we wait for the VM to get an actual DHCP address from the network it is on.  eventually we will sync that to the GUI.

if it's static manual, or static ip pool, then it'll be there immediately.

this is just for the GUI.

inside the guest OS, you'd need guest customization enabled for the two static options to actually be applied to the NIC Card present.

ok, I see what's going on.

You have created a pool of possible networks to be used.  Not that they have been used.

The network pool was a Port Group Backed network, so that port group goes into a bucket for future use.

you have to go into the Org vDC itself and create an Isolated or Routed Org vDC network.  This will define the IP ranges and make a gateway if required.

Once the network is instantiated, then you can add the network to the vApp.  This is done on the networking tab, add the org network, then it'll be available for assignment to the NIC.

this is just one of many possible paths.

given your setup, you have 1 port group assigned to this pool, which means you can create 1 network.

you should really look into vCloud Network Isolation or VXLAN as an alternative.  The first option will give you 1000 isolated networks within 1 VLAN ID (needs to exist in the physical network config).

Hi IamTHEvilONE

I tried to configure the vCloud Network Isolation with the same vlan which i assigned  for dvportgroup. but it said its already in used.

What i want : I created the dvport group(Port Group backed) in vcenter which is worked in dhcp and all the vm work on it use that ip to get the ip address.

now i want to use the same dvport group in my vcloud to assign the ip to it. Simply how can do it. if you have an idea (Which i know you have) tell me please. its really critical. i have to bring that cloud in production asap.

Any screenshot required than tell me i will provide you.

Thanks.
