vCenter Server Recovery from failed Cluster (Site A to Site B)

Hello VMWare community,

I was wondering if someone could help me understand the following scenario.

I have two Sites and each on has its own VMWare Cluster.

Site A Cluster goes down which hosts our vCenter Server.

The vCenter Server contains all its components e.g. database.

I want to restore vCenter in Site B, so considering that SAN and networking are online could I simply logon to an ESXi host, browse datastore, import the vCenter Server and turn it on?

The only thing I could think of that could stop me is a possible file lock.

All hosts would be running on ESXi 5.5.

I have tried searching the google but couldn't really find this type of scenario.

Perhaps I am using the wrong search words so my apologies in advanced if I have missed something obvious.

Thanks.

Power on that VM at the other site won't be a trouble.

since you will be replicating original VM from Site A to Site B, those are just files residing on datastore, no locks on them.

But things to think of is, network setting within the guest OS etc if you are using different subnet, at the recovery site(Site B in your case).
