Export to ovf

Any time I try to export to an OVF from esxi 6, it times out when I get to between 10 and 20GB and says Network Failed. I'm just exporting to my local PC. The hard drive is no where close to full. I've tried disconnecting the removable media before I export, but it still fails. Any suggestions?

Are you exporting from the ESXi host directly, or from vCenter?

I'm exporting from the esxi directly. I then want to be able to import it to my vcenter. I've read up some ovftools, but that doesn't seem to be an option for me at themoment, as I don't currently know what my root password is for my vcenter.

Update your ESXi embedded host client with the one available from the Fling page and try again.

I tried the update, the export is still failing.

I guess I should specify, the vmdk portion of the export is what fails.
