workstation 6 networking problems

Hi,

I have installed VMWare workstation 6 on my windows XP. I then created one virtual machine and installed fedora core 5 linux on that. I am unable to get the host os talking to guest os or get any kind of networking configured.

I wish to find a way to:

1) share files between the two OSs (shared folder is not working and am unable to install the vmware tools, even after running RPM)

2) open a telnet session between the two machines to transfer files or data between them.

I want only the host OS to connect to the internet and share the files to guest machine through shared folder or telnet sessions.

Is it possible ?? If yes then could somebody please help me out with this ??

Thanks and Regards,

Gabbar

I am trying to use DHCP and host only networking configuration.

I have enabled VMNet1 and i can see that its active in the network tab of the fedora linux. but i am still unable to ping 192.168.0.1 (host) as specified in the user manual.. !!
