vmware-workstation-server will not start after reboot

Workstation 11.1.2 build-2780323 on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

Installs fine. Works fine until I reboot the computer. Afterwards, Workstation reports shared vms are not accessible because the server is not started.

Attempts to start vmware-workstation-server fail.

I try:

# pkill vmare-hostd

# sh /usr/bin/vmware/vmware-hostd -d

# etc/init.d/vmware-workstation-server status

not running

# etc/init.d/vmware-workstation-server start

# etc/init.d/vmware-workstation-server status

not running

Log does not have any new entries. No errors indicating failure to start.

If I uninstall vmware-workstation and re-install it, then shared vms are accessible ..... until I reboot the computer.

Any assistance would be great.

Maybe the port is in use by another application on your host ?
