cannot ping the guest os..

Hi,

I've installed VMware Workstation 6.0 on a windows XP m/c. I've created a new virtual mc and my guest os is SuSE Linux 10.1.

I can ping to any machine on the network from my guest os, but the other way around doesnt work...

i.e. I cannot ping to the ip address of my guest os from any other pc on the network, except the host machine.

Can anyone please help me figure out the problem?

Thanks,

Riddhi

Then Im guessing you picked NAT or Host Only networking, not bridged.

I'm using bridged networking...

Here are my Virtual Network Settings:

VMnet0(Bridged) Briged to Broadcom NetXtereme 57xx Gigabit controller

VMnet1(Host-only) Private network shared with host - Enabled

VMnet8(NAT) -Disabled

is the Suse firewall enabled? Are you blocking ICMP?

I have disabled the firewall for both host and guest os,,But this dosent help..

Also, i notice that there is some time difference of few seconds between my guest os (SuSE Linux) and the host os (Windows).. does this matter.. if yes how do i align the timings..

Thanks,

Riddhi

Post "IPCONFIG /ALL" and "ifconfig -a" from host, guest and remote machine.
