OS: OpenSUSE 11.2 64bit
kernel: kernel-desktop-2.6.31.5-0.1.1
I just have installed the VMWare Workstation 7. Installation was successful - no errors, BUT:
1. On first start it's working, but the cursor focus is not transferred to the guest OS.
2. After restarting the computer, when starting the guest OS issues an error - "Could not open /dev/vmmon: No such file or directory. Please make sure that the kernel module `vmmon' is loaded."
What can I do about this?
su -
chkconfig -list vmware
The output displays the run levels assigned to vmware :
vmware 0:off 1:off 2:on 3:on 4:off 5:on 6:off
Run the following commands:
chkconfig vmware 5
chkconfig -list vmware
The output appears, confirming the change to run level 5 only:
vmware 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:off 4:off 5:on 6:off
Restart the host operating system.

chkconfig vmware 5 - it's not working, same result - "vmware 0:off 1:off 2:on 3:on 4:off 5:on 6:off"
I tried - chkconfig --level 23 vmware off and the result - "vmware 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:off 4:off 5:off 6:off"
if run "chkconfig vmware 5" after "chkconfig --level 23 vmware off". than the initial result - "vmware 0:off 1:off 2:on 3:on 4:off 5:on 6:off"
runlevel 5 does not turn off separately
And I do not quite understand the meaning of this act. Can you explain?

Strange situation - the runlevel has not changed, but the problem is resolved.
Thank you)

I can confirm that I encountered the same trouble and had been solved using this note. Thanks.
