VMware Workstaton 6 + Vista 64-bit + Win 3.11

Anyone else still using old Win 3.1/3.11 VMs with WS6 beta on any platform?

I am running Vista Ultimate 64-bit/Intel Core 2 Duo and have a Win2k VM running fine under this configuration.

My DOS6.22/Win3.11 VMs also ran fine under VM5.5 on Win XP 32-bit.

On WS6beta DOS6.22 starts OK but when I start Win3.11, it gets as far as my login screen, then I can't type anything into the dialog box. The mouse cursor is stuck as well. I don't actually get the impression that the VM has hung, just that it's not getting or processing the relevant events.

Tried a few things, e.g.

a. run in full screen

b. enable/disable DOSIDLE (anyone else working with a different IDLE program?) I notice that DOSIDLE cannot detect the processor type (not surprising considering its age, but I can't easily get back to my XP/VMWS5 setup to see if that was the same in this respect).

c. enable/disable a few other CONFIG and AUTOEXEC commands.

Same problem under VM Player.

Any thoughts? Even "my Win3.1 VM works fine under VMWS6 on xxx" type responses would be helpful.

Thanks.

There's a thread about this in the Workstation 6 beta forum. I believe it's something to do with the keyboard processing, but I could be remembering wrong. Search there for Win 3.11.

Thanks for the pointer - I completely failed to spot the beta topic before.
