Hello
I need run 100 vmware guest OS
but can start only 64 - and after, vmware workstation cant run more.
i tried on windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 - host OS
Vmware 9 and 10 with XP as guest OS
who know? may be on any Linux as host OS VMware Workstation, can run more than 64 guest OS.
Or like how run 2 independend Vmware workstation on 1 host OS.
P.S. all resources for that i have - 12 core CPU 128GB RAM
P.S.S.
some screens
http://i.epvpimg.com/iZLYg.png
1. screen when try run from GUI vmware workstation
2. screen when try run from vmrun.exe from console
P.S.S.S. problem not with hardware resorces
on 6 core + 64GB = run 64VMs too - and cant run more
so on 12 core + 128Gb RAM = resources i have MANY FREE
Have you tried adjusting Memory Preferences in VMware Workstation > Edit > Preferences... > Memory?
If you need to run 100 Virtual Machines you should consider using ESXi as you'd eliminate the overhead of the Host OS and I believe you'd have finer aggregate control over memory resources.
Just curious, why do you need to run 100 Virtual Machines?
yes tried - allocate max memory for guest OS - problem not here.
ESXi not accept 3D on Desktop Video cards like Geforce 640, when i need low recources of 3D
need for some tests.

Based on the second error message I assume your using a version of VMware Workstation that supports Teams, are all 100 in the same Team? If yes have you tried splitting them into smaller Teams and starting several Teams while waiting for each Team to complete?
im using standart Vmware from site from download section
how create team on vmware workstation? if team = folder - then yes
some VMs in folder 1 = 50 VMs
some in folder 2 = 50VMs
and only 64 can start. 32 and 32 OR 50 and 14
and cant more.
what about using vmplayer.exe instead of vmware.exe to run the VMs ?
yes. same problem. cant run more 64 VMs
also tried on Ubuntu 13.10 - install 10.0.1 x64 bundle - and too - cant run more 64 VMs.
It is a limitation of certain resources of the host OS. If you need to run more than 64 VMs, you need to use a bare-metal hypervisor (e.g. ESXi).
ESXi not accept 3D on Desktop Video cards like Geforce 640, when i need low recources of 3D
need for some tests.
Using VMware View you will be able to take advantage of hardware graphics acceleration - http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/view/vmware-horizon-view-hardware-accelerated-3Dgraphics-performance...
3D on Desktop Video cards like Geforce 640, when i need low recources of 3D
horizon view - not accept Desktop video cards. - and he based on hypervisor ESXi.
Well, then your next best option is to buy lower cost host PCs for each set of 64 VMs you need to run.
i need run more 64 VMs

If you have two PC's running Windows using VMware Workstation then between the two you can run 128 VM's, in other words up to 64 on each, assuming you have the appropriate hardware resources! Otherwise as I already suggested use ESXi.
i need rrun more 64VM on 1 PC
ESXi no need. need vmware workstation, 1 PC, 100 runing VM

You're not listening! As RDPetruska already told you... "It is a limitation of certain resources of the host OS. If you need to run more than 64 VMs, you need to use a bare-metal hypervisor (e.g. ESXi)."
so answer on my question?
imposiible run more 64VM on vmware workstation?
or may be even know some hacks?
tried HOST OS - Linux and Windows
Your question has already been answered and you're not listening, so I'm done here!
As others have said there is a limit of 64 VMs on VMware Workstation - you will need to take advantage of ESXi if you want to run more than 100 VMs on a single host -

YES. IMPOSSIBLE. I have my information from one of the VMware developers, from a post from a couple of years ago. It is NOT a matter of CPU or RAM resources, but some kind of resource handles (I can't remember exactly what)... the host OS only has 128 of them, and each VMware VM requires 2 of them... therefore 128 / 2 = 64 maximum running VM's on a host!
