Host network does not work after workstation 6 install and reboot

Hi,

I did the following steps:

1. Installed workstation 6 on a clean IBM Thinkpad T43 image

2. Reboot

3. Host network does not work. There's no ip, and adapter is missing from the list after a config /all. Adapter cannot be "repair"ed by windows

4. Reinstall workstation choosing "repair installation"

5. without rebooting vmware and both my wired nic (broadcom) and the wireless (intel) nic work fine

6. Shutdown windows and start it up again = back to square one. No host networking works.

Have tried:

a. Setting vmnet1 to internal virtual networking only

b. removing vmnet8 completely

c. removing any dhcp and nat functionality

All to no avail. Why is it that it works if I repair the workstation installation and stops working after a reboot?

Any help?

Regards,

Kim

What is your Windows host OS?

Have you installed/uninstalled Workstation as the machine's local Administrator?
