Hardware changes reported after moving the VM from a W7 host to a W8 host.

I tried to move a VM with the guest OS Windows 8 used in the VMware Workstation 9.02

from my HP desktop with Intel core i7-2600 CPU running Windows 7

to my laptop Toshiba with Intel core i7-4700MQ CPU, running the latest version of Windows 8.

I have been doing something like this all the time with my old laptop with i7-2630QM running Windows 7.

It turns out that something change dramatically when the host OS of the laptop changed from W7 to W8.

After starting the VM on my W8 laptop I clearly indicated it had been MOVED and NOT copied.

Unfortunately when I try to use any of the Office 2010 applications, I get a message that change of
HW has been detected, and I have to register the applications again (purchase new license I suppose).

Can anyone help me to resolve this problem. It is for me time-critical.

I am leaving for a 3 weeks business trip and the old laptop is not suitable any more.

Hello,

It seems to be normal, because hardware changes(RAM, CPU,...)

can be a reason of reactivation of Microsoft Windows or Microsoft Office.

I had such a situation upgrading RAM.

So if you have license, activate it again.

Hope helped you.

Yes I discovered that Microsoft did not force me to buy another license but only to re-activate Office 2010.

There still remains a little mystery.  After re-activating Office, I moved the VM  back to the original host.
Clearly it was going to "different" H/W, so I was anxious to see if another HW change would be reported
forcing me to do the re-activation again.

This did not happen. I am not sure why, but at this point I don't really care.

Thanks for your time and help.
