Guest OS can't get a valid IP

Hello!

I've installed Windows Server 2008R2 x64 as a guest OS and it shows me an error (see pic).

Setting of the host (Windows 7 x64):

- wireless connection to the router

- all settings are dinamic

Details of the network adaptor on the guest OS shows strange settings.

The same behaviour when guest OS is Windows 7 x64.

At the same time i have a Windows XP as a guest OS installed and network works fine for it.

All settings for working Windows XP and not working Windows Server 2008R2 x64 (and Windows 7 x64) are the same.

Do you know a reason of this behaviour? And how could i resolve the problem?

How are you assiginig ip addresses - dhcp or static? if so dhcp then check setting and scope given - if static check possible conflict and also check for MAC address confllict.

also check which network vm is assigined to use by right click on vm then edit settings - network.

hope that helps.

>> How are you assiginig ip addresses - dhcp or static?

Do you mean in the guest OS? Well, i've tried both dhcp and static as well.

>> if so dhcp then check setting and scope given

DHCP scope is set in router (100-199), all other settings are default.

>> if static check possible conflict

There is no conflicts: router - 192.168.0.1; host - 192.168.0.103

All other systems were offline.

>> check for MAC address confllict.

What kind of conflict? MAC addresses are different.

>> also check which network vm is assigined to use by right click on vm then edit settings - network.

What do you mean?

Are you using ESX or ESXi - if yes then

Click on host --> Configurations---> networking then

vSwitch0 properties

Check physical nics assigined - check how many ports your virtual switch has.

on the vm side

check attached screenshot to select the network to connect vm to.

I have no idea, what is that Smiley Happy

I've installed only Workstation on my system.

>> Click on host --> Configurations---> networking then

>> vSwitch0 properties

I have no vSwitch0 there.

>> check attached screenshot

my virtual machine setting looks differently.
