Hi,
We recently had a power outage and our UPS didn't hold enough charge for the whole outage. The Workstation 9 I was using was installed on a Windows server with a couple of shared VM's running. We are usinh WS9 for testing purposes and hope to upgrade to a server version soon. After the power outage I can not Enable Shared VM's. I have tried to delete the datastores.xml, but that did not solve the issue. I also tried to see if I had multiple host entries in my hostfiles which was not the case. I do not know what else to do...
My datastores.xml file:
<ConfigRoot>
<LocalDatastores>
<_length>1</_length>
<_type>hostd.host.LocalDatastoreEntry[]</_type>
<e id="0">
<_type>hostd.host.LocalDatastoreEntry</_type>
<id>1</id>
<name>standard</name>
<path>E:\Shared Virtual Machines\</path>
</e>
</LocalDatastores>
<NasVolumes>
<_length>0</_length>
<_type>hostd.host.NasDatastoreEntry[]</_type>
</NasVolumes>
</ConfigRoot>
I reinstalled it and it is working fine now. We had a power outage and our UPS's did not hold up as much as was necesarry. I had to start from a Snapshot as the VM-disk got corrupted.
I think you can:
1. Try to start/stop the "VMware Workstation Server" service and check if there is more info in the System event.
2. Get the logs files under "C:\ProgramData\VMware\hostd", check if there are more details error info.
Hope it helps
You can check the system event from Computer Management.
Hi,
When I try to start the service I get the following error.
what about
VMAuthdService
VMUSBArbService
lanmanworkstation
can you start them ? - do they exist ?
