Is anybody else experiencing sttrange behavior on the forums with posts from 1 year ago apperaing before posts a few hours ago ?? - Next and Previous postings also randomly time stamped? Perhaps its jsut an bug using Ubuntu Firefox 4.0 for Ubuntu Natty which was just updated (sudo aptitude update)?
If other people are experiencing this behavior how to contact the listlmaster??

More than just timestamps... reply counts look wrong on a number of threads too. For example this 3 page thread apparently has 0 replies.
Yes I noticed it too.

It's funny you mentioned Firefox 4 as it works better and faster then previous versions and it been most noticeable on this site considering how slow it (this site) is to begin with.
This has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with Firefox and everything to do with the idiots at VMware that did the upgrade back in December 2010 and that maintain this site as there has been nothing but problems since as well as lots of trashed posts that the upgrade didn't convert properly. Half the time I get an email response to the threads I've posted in and the other half not at all and it can be in the same thread when there has been lots of posts in that thread or threads with just one reply to mine and my preferences are properly set, not that it appears to matter though. Frankly if VMware didn't fire the people reasonable for the mess created by and since the last website upgrade I wouldn't be surprised!
Also the fact that it no longer shows that a thread has been updated makes it more difficult to keep up with especially since I don't get all the email I should.
I could go on but it's really just not worth it as based on how this site has been since the upgrade the new standard is crap and 4 months later we are still dealing with this garbage.

don't worry - Alex and the crew are investigating - it happened about 20 hours ago
I will mark this thread as answered. It;s good to know "thre crew" is working feverishly on this issue.

This has happened 3 or 4 times since the December upgrade and frankly I've seen so many discrepancies that I doubt it will ever show the correct information ever again as there are still discrepancies from the previous occurrences that have not been rectified yet.
Someone if not several individuals should have been fired after the last site upgrade!
Wow! Even I'm not that cold-hardened. But think. These guys are probably paid next to nothing by VMware - how will they find replacements even in this economy.

Woody is not alone ...
we better get used to the fact that this forum does not work half as good as we would expect from any other forum we probably visit
nowhere else I use notepad and then paste the answer ...

I'm not a piece of metal being tempered and I believe a more appropriate saying is 'cold-hearted', regardless though I'm being neither! As an IT Professional I've had to fire people for less incompetence then what has been exhibited at this web-site as a result of the last upgrade in December much less the on going and or new issues. Considering VMware is supposed to be the Industry Leader in Virtualization it's ironic that virtualization wasn't used to its fullest in that the actual physical upgrade should have never taken place until it could have been and should have been done virtually until its was proven to have no issues and I for one have used virtualization to do just that and considering the number of issues after the upgrade I don't believe for one minute the idiots responsible used virtualization to its fullest to achieve a non-problematic upgrade.

Regardless of whether or not the old adage 'You get what your pay for' is true it is obvious the incompetence continues as no less then twice since you started these thread the "Replies" count has been screwed up and there are still email issues.
As to finding replacements in this economy that shouldn't be a problem as unemployment globally is at a very high rate, the trick of course is finding commandant individuals to replace the current nincompoops with.
Yep, it looks like the Posted timestamps are still messed up. I'm trying to go back to about a month ago to look for older posts that still haven't been replied to yet - and some of them are saying 1 year ago, then 3 weeks ago.
Forum Fail
Hi Dave
at the moment the reply-counter gets resetted every now and then.
Effectively searching for unanswered posts is impossible at the moment.
Hopefully this can be fixed soon
Ulli
Your'e right of course. I was being more optimistic about global IT competance. At many organizations it appears that people are actually paid more for breaking things than fixing them. Must be job security.
Marty
we fixed the reply counts and if you still see reply counts wrong, let us know. Also give us an example with detail on what is wrong with timestamp and reply counts, so that we can drill down the bug. Vendor does have bugs in this version and sometimes, the patch is not recommended and upgrade is more a solution. For reply counts bug, we patched it ourselves and hopefully it works now.
Figured it out and its really a big plus. The threads that are on the top and either ones that were just posted - say within a few hourfs at most. Then they are followed by open questions.
