I know XP doesn't have native AHCI support for Sata drives and Workstation 8 doesn't seem to offer a Sata controller for an XP Guest VM, just IDE or SCSI. I've been using Virtualbox which you can add a Sata Controller and put an SSD on it.
I like the Workstation 8 features and would really like to give it a run, but I've gotta have AHCI in XP for my SSD. Anyway to do do this ?
I can't believe I'm the only person in Vmware history to have asked this question. Come on , someone running an XP Guest has had to have considered a Sata Controller, or Vmware is an extension of the Linux Cult and no one runs Windows Guest OS.
if you forever reasons ? need a SATA controller inside a VM only option is to use VirtualBOX
VMware VMs only have
IDE
Buslogic
LSIlogic
LSI-SAS
or PVSCSI
as available mass-storage-controllers
