hi to everyone... i'm using vmware workstation and i want to know something.
can i update vmware's bios in a guest os, and if i can, then this effects real bios in my hardware?
thnx...
Welcome to the froums!
No, you can't upgrade this BIOS and there's no need to do this.
The virtual BIOS has no effect on the physical BIOS.

Welcome to the forums - I have moved your post to the VMware Workstation forums
However to answer your question the bios of the VM guest can not be upgraded, so the question is moot. however if the BIOS could be upgraded it would have no effect on your Host machine BIOS

the virtual BIOS can be changed - but there is no reason to do this - it is also not supported in any way

Sounds cool.
How do you actually go about to do so and for what reason would you do so?

heheh... i run a customized BIOS on one of my VMs.... so yes it can be done.
You just need to use:
bios440.fileName = "name of bios file"
But beware that your VM is no longer supported... if something strange happens in the VM.. you are on your own.

Is there any paricular reason you would do that?
I'm asking because I really don't know the benefits of a tweaked virtual bios..
