Licensed Product to build a VM Player Virt. Machine

VM player is available on the companies desktops.  We want to create an VM for our applications, to run via vmplayer on the users desktop.

We will have vSphere 4.1 in the build environment.  Is that the correct product to build the VM image that we will send out to our end users?

While VMware Player and VMware Workstation use the exact same format for their files, ESXi uses a slightly different format. Even though you can download the files from the ESXi host's datastore and reconfigure the VM (the network settings are different), the best option would be to use VMware Converter to do the job.

If the VM's will have access to the same network, you may need to do additional modifications (individual MAC addresses, computer names, ...)
