Hi,
I have twice downloaded VMware Player 2.0 for Linux (.tar) from:
http://www.vmware.com/download/player/download.html
which shows these details:
VMware Player 2.0 for Linux (.tar)
Latest Version: 2.0 | 5/09/07 | Build: 45731
Download | Release Notes
md5sum: f6c4ce9becbf9efdb62472219e403de5
But both times I compute the MD5 sum as:
090b02f6a49dd3a4e8617f68e1d2dc7b
Also I get different MD5 sum for the .rpm.
http://www.vmware.com/download/player/download.html shows:
VMware Player 2.0 for Linux (.rpm)
Latest Version: 2.0 | 5/09/07 | Build: 45731
Download | Release Notes
md5sum: 173563d0ac222fd6336edcd42a506930
But I compute it as:
b77b1ec14b2695e30fcdf3654587de75
Does anybody else notice this?
I am wondering if the md5 sum shown belongs to the beta version
of VMPlayer 2.0 and the file is actually the released version.
Or vice-versa - the file is still the beta version and the md5 sum belongs to the new
software which somebody forgot to put on the website.
Note - I don't have any problems with checksums of previous player versions 1.0.1, 1.0.2, 1.03
Cheers,
pg
Actually, the MD5 sums for all 5 downloads appear to be wrong. They had this issue on one of the Workstation 6 beta builds as well, but shortly fixed it. Hopefully someone will see this and verify them.
Got the same error also.
The only one that is correct is the x86_64 tar version.
md5sum VMware-player-2.0.0-45731.x86_64.tar.gz
2BFBC79F548F082818B44B980D9E1C71 VMware-player-2.0.0-45731.x86_64.tar.gz
Yes, we are aware of this issue and will have them updated soon.
OK, they all look correct now!
Thanks, I was told when I posted this message that the new pages were to be pushed out soon. So, it seems that the update is complete now
Getting a bad check sum on VMware-workstation-6.0.0-45731.i386.rpm
of e5202b0f3b119a8ee3c161a5711a48bc when it's supposed to be
989c1ea700ac92d49b4f14ce2e71876. The rpm install fails with:
rpm -i VMware-workstation-6.0.0-45731.i386.rpm
error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/lib/vmware/isoimages/freebsd.iso;4669e1cb: cpio: MD5 sum mismatch
Anyone know about this error. From the posts it looks like these downloads should all be good to go, but not for me.
thanks,
ted
The MD5SUM listed on the web site are now correct.
If your downloaded file does not match the MD5SUM listed you will need to download again because this is an indication that your download is corrupted or incomplete.
