Hello,
The copy/paste doesn't work using VMRC (version 10.0.3 build-9300449) between the guest VMs and my computer I can't copy a text and paste it in the guest VM.
Do you know if is it possible to activate this feature?.
Kind regards and thanks in advance.

Thanks very much, I follow your link and it works properly!
The official KB article is: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/57122
Hi all, I have VMRC version 11.0.0 build-15201582 and Host is ESXi 6.5. Cut and paste doesn't work for me. feels like I've tried everything. I went to the VM settings and added the attributes
isolation.tools.copy.disable FALSE
isolation.tools.paste.disable FALSE
isolation.tools.setGUIOptions.enable TRUE
I also added the below entries to /etc/vmware/config
vmx.fullpath = "/bin/vmx"
isolation.tools.copy.disable="FALSE"
isolation.tools.paste.disable="FALSE"
rebooted Host and Guest OSes
Nothing. Any help would be appreciated.
@hnouel I've got the same issue. Added lines to .vmx but still unable to Copy/Paste from VMRC.
Did you resolve the issue?
This is what I have determined:
1. Cut/Paste functionality requires VMware Tools be installed on the guest OS.
2. Even with VMware Tools installed, Cut/Paste is OS dependent.
Guest OS | With VMware Tools | Without VMware Tools | Putty/SSH |
---|---|---|---|
Windows Server 2016 | Y | N | N/A |
Windows 10 | Y | N | N/A |
Cisco ISE 2.3 (IOS based) | N | N | Y |
Ubuntu 18.04 LTS | N | N | Y |
For my isolated Lab network I resorted to installing a jumpbox (Winows 10). Install Putty on the jumpbox. On regular network, find procedures, instructions, etc. and save it on a USB stick (Web pages can be saved as HTML and you can open it in the lab environment with formatting intact). Use Putty to connect to non-Windows guest OSes. Open the file in the jumpbox and Cut and Paste at will. Hope this helps.
I'm finding that the clipboard is not working with VMware Tools version:11329 in Windows Server 2019.
The KB article https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/57122 indicates to use Edit Settings > VM Options > Advanced > Configuration Parameters: EDIT CONFIGURATION ... > and then add the options to disable the disabled settings. However, there is no way in the GUI to add rows to the table of options.
I even went so far as to shutdown the guest VM to see if that would allow me to edit the VM Options. But still can't add to the table of advanced options!
Any ideas on this?
Has anyone looked into the risks that this change adds to the environment?
you cant add parameters if the VM is powered on. it must be powered off first.
Also, i have tried this with VM 7.03 running VMHW version 7.02 or later. latest version of VMtools 12.0.6 running on fully patched version of server 2019. Still cant get it to work. Have not tried doing ESXI configs....but this should work.
