USB passthrough not working for iPads on Mac VM's after latest update?

Hi there:

I have a 10.10 VM that I use to manage some departmental iPads via Apple Configurator.  Post-update to 8.1, I can't get iPads to consistently connect.  When I do manage to get an iPad connected and try to update it, it won't reconnect.  I've tried changing the USB passthrough settings to only connect to the VM, but to no avail.  This also happens in iTunes.

Anyone else having this or similar issues?
