How to close window of shut down machine

Having lot's of issues right down with VM performance.  Seems both my Win 7 and my Win 10 machines have become bloated to the point of not working.  Shut down the Win 7 VM and the window (full screen) is still there even though the machine is not running.  How do I close the screen?

Click anywhere in the screen except the large center "Start" triangle or its surrounding circle. Then type Command-W on the keyboard (hold down the Command key and press W).

If the Mac menu bar is not hidden, you could also choose File -> Close from the menu bar instead of Command-W.
