Fusion 5.0.2 crashes in Snow Leopard

I have Fusion 5.0.2 on my MacBook Pro using Snow Leopard.  When I open Windows, after a while it crashes and I get this message:

"The operation on file "/Users/name/Documents/Virtual Machines.localized/Windows XP Professional 2.vmwarevm/Windows XP Professional 2-000001.vmdk" failed.

If the file resides on a remote file system, make sure that the network connection and the server where this disk resides are functioning properly.  If the file resides on removable media, reattach the media.

Select Retry to attemp the operation again.

Select Cancel to end this session.

Select Continue to forward the error to the guest operationg system."

Any suggestions on how to fix these crashes.  Thanks.

Yes,

The minimum system requirements for installing and using VMware Fusion 5 are:

  • Any 64--bit capable Intel® Mac (Compatible with Core 2 Duo, Xeon, i3, i5, i7 processors or better)
  • Minimum 2GB of RAM (4GB or more recommended)
  • 750MB free disk space for VMware Fusion and at least 5GB for each virtual machine
  • Mac OS X 10.6.7 or later; OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion recommended

I'm using OS X 10.6.8.  My Mac also meets all the other requirements.

I've wasted a decent amount of time trying to figure out the problem.  I'm thinking of switching to Parrallels.
