I'm using windows 8 as my guest OS on VMWareFusion on Mavericks. How do I type a backslash symbol? It's a UK keyboard.
Hi FresnoBob71
Welcome at the VMware communities forum.
Oh I remember having a macbook with a UK keyboard, that was quite a pain, but can't remember having problems with the backslash, my issues where with a tilde (~)
Eg. my keyboard looked like the British one on this link:
UK MBA keyboard layout vs Apple external keyboard layouts - Ask Different
That layout has a backslash on the actual keyboard.
I don' t have that machine anymore, but a quick search suggests to try either:
Alt+Shift+7
or
Alt+Shift+# (hash character) the text is not clear it might also just be Alt+#
or
Right apple key + " (double quote)
It is even mentioned to use "Alt+0092" (don't think that will work, but better to have one extra way to try)
What is unclear to me in your question is if your keyboard doesn't have the backslash key or if it is a keyboard mapping problem when using VMware Fusion.
