Patch ESX350-200808402-BG - Update 2 Pre-Requisite?

Hi all,

I'm currently running 3.5 Update 1 (82663) on all of my ESX hosts, and have recently come across the issue that the above patch released on 18/9 fixes. The only problem is that it would seem that this patch has a pre-req of Update 2, and I'm not too keen on going to that at the moment.

Is my thinking correct:-

ESX350-200808402-BG requires ESX350-200808201-UG & ESX350-200808408-BG.

ESX350-200808201-UG requires ESX350-200808202-UG (is this Update 2??).

Any help/advice appreciated.

Thanks,

Doug.

You are correct except for ESX350-200808202-UG being U2, this is not the case. This is just a normal patch: kb article

Hi,

Once you install the -8408 package, you might go ahead and install the -200808201, 8202-UG will be superceded by -8408 package and yes 8201-UG is Update 2 bundle.

Thanks,

Selva

Hi Duncan,

Apologies, I seem to have got patch numbers mixed up.

To clarify, my concern is around this statement:

Deployment Considerations

ESX350-200808402-BG requires the installation of ESX 3.5 U2

refresh bundle ESX350-200808201-UG, irrespective of whether the ESX 3.5

U2 hot fix bundle ESX350-200806812-BG is currently installed or not. Make sure that ESX 3.5 U2 refresh bundle ESX350-200808201-UG is available in the local depot before installation.

Therefore, my question really was 'is ESX350-200808201-UG Update 2 and if so does this definitely make it a pre-req for ESX350-200808402-BG?'

Thanks,

Doug.
