Moved ADS Now need to change IP Address of Domain controller

I changed the IP Address of my Domain Controller in our Windows environment and I use Active Directory for authentication. I can Putty in with a local account and change to root fine, Is there somewhere in the file structure I can check/and change the IP Address of my Domain Controllers.

TIA, John

So you want to change the DNS server IP on the ESX server?

Edit /etc/resolve.conf if that's the case. (nano /etc/resolve.conf)

This really isn't a vM Ware question, it's a windows question.

You do this from the IP configuration of your Nics from within the AD. They should be set to static, and if they have DHCP servers running on the AD, they MUST be hard coded in the IP address.

That's where you change the IP configuration for the AD

You also need to change DHCP, WINS, and DNS entries to reflect the changes, if the AD's are also the ones using these services.

Hang on, is he saying that ESX has been configured to use a specific domain controller for authentication and this requires a change.

Have you looked at:

http://www.vmware.com/pdf/esx3_esxcfg_auth_tn.pdf

There's a section on using esxcfg-auth for this type of thing.

Yes Mister T that is what I'm saying. I've set My ESX Boxes to authenticate through ADS. I'll check the link.

Close but no cigar. I need to change the DNS IP or Domain IP inside of ESX using Putty.
