How do I create VM in specific location??

Hi there,

I am wanting to create a VM in a specific location such as:

/vmfs/volumes/LSI-RAID0/Templates

However I cannot see an option to 'choose' where I want to save the VM during initial creation. The wizard just create the VM here:

/vmfs/volumes/LSI-RAID0/<whatever name i choose for VM>

Is there a way to specifiy where I want to save the VM during creation?

Thank you for any help Smiley Wink

You can't do this directly from VIC.

But you can move the directory after tou create it from the Service Console:

- Remove the guest from inventory

- In service conse, run: mv /vmfs/volumes/LSI-RAID0/.vmx and change all path.

- Add to inventory

I dont think vmfs supports subfolders in that way.

also from a performance point of view it would be better to have your templates on a seperate VMFS datastore to your guests.
